A Little Mix and Match
(This post was supposed to publish 2 weeks ago, but something went weird. So, I pulled the post and republished it today.)
So, the Slash…. This is becoming a nightmare project. I am almost finished with the body, but then my airbrush decided to act up. So, I am waiting for some new parts, which halted other projects I wanted to get done on it. So, the Slash is still on the bench.
I put the body on the Slash and realized that the precut body does not fit the current configuration with the body posts. So, I will either have to make two more holes or see if I can move the body posts. I am still pondering this one….. I know that I would prefer to move the body posts.
We also did some work on my son’s CC-02. His goal is to build a truck that is more capable than my CR-01. Please don’t tell him, but I think he might be pretty close. We are researching axles for the truck because the Tamiya axles are not liking the new tires. We programmed his Hobbico speed control to have a drag brake. I am definitely going to do a how-to for my CR-01, as I have the same Hobbico 1080 speed control. I think that the programming kit is a Paulie’s Pick! I want to first get my CR-01 programmed to confirm that the process is easy.
I posted a quick pic of the truck to date. We are working on a new body for it. Also, I noticed that my research was shining through. I am not sure if I want or endorse the Polyend Mess Quick. Cool device, but not sure I want to spend the money on it. You can also see the first draft of this post.
Anyhoo, we ordered another body for this CC-02 to rule out the drive shafts just being a Bronco problem. (That should get some comments.). Seriously, lighten up people it’s a joke! The biggest disappointment for me on the Bronco is that Ford stopped making the two-door! Yup, even a Toyota guy would admire the Bronco! The Bronco is the ultimate keyboard warrior!
I am still waiting on a couple of things before I wrap up the Slash review. In the meantime, I did manage to mix up some paint and get pretty close to the 80’s Rally maroon. I laid down a little paint on the Tamiya Audi Quattro Rallye.
My goal with this car was to see how long it would take to do the Tamiya car by the book. However, I could not resist making one little tweak to the car. I hope it pops when I get the white paint on it. If not, I did measure the paint mask so the decal should just cover my mistake. Come on, you know that life is too short not to have a little fun!
I trust you get the joke. I hope that when I paint it, the “Inni” will be subtle.
This post is an update on the projects. I will be busy moving my daughter and attending her graduation, so I doubt I will have much time to finish these projects.
In the meantime, I acquired a Zoom H2 Essential to have a portable recorder. One of my other joys that I can trace through childhood is playing with audio. I used to love playing with a microphone and a tape deck. So, I decided to do an ad for Tamiya by drifting my TT-02RA around the recorder. This is the result of my demented mind, a recorder, and my playing with Logic. Enjoy my make-believe ad. Hopefully, it gets people interested in the hobby! I want to make explicit that I am not affiliated with Tamiya, they did not ask me to make this ad, but if they wanted me to make one for say XV-02RS Pro… Well, I am sure that my rubber arm could be twisted. Just saying….
Thank you for reading. This week’s post is a mix and match of projects, but things are in the works. On the bright side, there should be plenty of stuff to report in the future. Until we meet again, may the Lord’s blessing and peace be upon you!
